Newzbin 2 will be blocked by BT

via engadget.com I love the pathetic use of the slow cumbersome legal system. It's like trying to sue one of the moles on the Whac-A-Mole game. Another one will just pop up. I'm not sure if it's amusing or just sad to see the authority of old getting like this. It's like watching your parents grow senile.

Windows 8 and Development

i just have one thing to say about windows 8 application compatibility. if i cannot run Microsoft office FrontPage 2003, i will sew their damned asses for all they are worth. and yes i will find a way to make a case over that and win. afterall, the last time we have had horrible compatibility issues was vista. if "windows 8" becomes a failier like Vista or worse i think Microsoft will loose a lot of their customers. and why is it that Microsoft always has to discontinue good and useful features from Microsoft Windows? when i first got Windows XP, i noticed that one of my favorite features was missing that was nicely put in Windows 2000, so i had to import it into Windows XP myself. sadly when service pack 2 and IE7 came out the Windows explorer shell and whatnot changed so much that i could figure out how to modify certian operating system files without corrupting them.  via social.msdn.microsoft.com Forum idiot award 2011 -> "i just have one thing to say ab

Cool Samsung Galaxy Flexi concept

via yankodesign.com Very cool idea. I am sure Nokia was actually researching this for phones a couple of years ago. Everything takes so long to come to fruition :-(

BooksApp - Android Market

via market.android.com I downloaded and started using this app tonight. Essentially it has a barcode scanner that scans your books, looks up the cover and details on Google Books and adds it to your own personal library. You can then set books to out to loan and all sorts of other useful things. A great feature is the ability to email as a csv or upload to Google Docs. I scanned my upstairs books this evening and out of just over 200 it got almost all of them. The main omissions were just a couple that didn't have barcodes because of being too old or not registered with isbn numbers. I have about the same again to scan downstairs tomorrow before packing into boxes (courtesy of @GiantBassstacks). I had the phone in a grip stand so I could just slide the books underneath so got them scanned in no time at all. A very geeky evening indeed!

Caught on camera... or not...

via nottinghamshire.police.uk Such a low quality picture will catch nobody. I can't even see how this could be used as evidence... I would love to employ the people who were able to sell these low quality cams.

xkcd: University Website

via xkcd.com I love this pic. It's very applicable to lots of companies sites. If you are creating content for a new site you seriously need to have a think about why people are coming to your website and what they want to get from it. NOT what you want to tell them. No-one is interested in splurge. They normally have a task in hand, ie buy something, find some contact details for your company, look at the services you offer. They need to be able to complete these tasks as easy as possible. OBVIOUS!!!!!! If it's so obvious then why is it so hard to buy a mobile phone from Orange.co.uk? http://www.orange.co.uk/ ? Companies love giving people blurb instead of simple routes to tasks.
